Our story

A family home before it was ever a venue.

The house went up in 1858 and has been standing ever since. Upstairs, the five bedrooms still carry the names of the children who slept in them. Downstairs, the Parlor keeps its antique mirror and gold draperies, and the Library has floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a fireplace people refuse to leave.

Outside there are five more places to choose from. A front lawn you reach by a half-mile avenue, an oak grove with an old farm bell that once called the children in for supper, a south vista over the fields, an east lawn wide enough for hundreds, and a butterfly garden nobody wants to leave. That is more ways to say your vows than most couples expect, which is either a gift or a decision. Either way, someone walks you through it.

That avenue is the only way onto the property. Once you are down it, the day belongs to you. No other party, no shared grounds, no one waiting on you to finish.

Where it happens

Five outdoor spaces, the rooms inside the house, and 183 acres wrapped around all of it.

01
The Front Lawn
Reached by a half-mile avenue that unfolds toward the house. The circular lawn is framed by the front façade, and brides can enter from the front doors, descend the porch steps, and cross the lawn. Faces north, so the light stays gentle through the afternoon.
02
The Oak Grove
Mature live oaks draped in resurrection ferns, with two ceremony settings. One is an alley of oaks and pines forming a natural aisle, the other a circular grove anchored by a Southern magnolia. An old farm bell at the edge still summons guests to ceremonies.
03
The South Vista
Extends from the rear porch through a stand of oaks and opens onto the fields. Owls nest here, deer cross at dawn, and the fields turn gold at harvest. A firepit sits nearby for evenings that run long.
04
The East Lawn
The most expansive space on the property, framed by the house on one side and the Oak Grove on the other. Takes a tent and hundreds of guests. Turns into stargazing and fireworks once the sun goes down.
05
The Butterfly Garden
A carpet of Walter's violets beneath the trees and a patio nestled within the garden. Enclosed and private. Suited to cocktail hours, garden luncheons, and bridal portraits.
06
The Parlor
Inside the 1858 house, taking the eastern morning light through tall windows, with an antique mirror and gold draperies. This is where the bride and her party get ready, and it comes with every rental.
07
The Library
Wrapped in bookshelves around a generous fireplace, with deep colours and collected furnishings. This is where the groom and his party get ready, and it comes with every rental.
08
The Second Floor
A private second-floor retreat connecting five bedrooms and three full baths, with the larder, a hospitality pantry stocked with coffee and refreshments. Comfortably sleeps 11 to 15, as part of the Wedding Weekend package.
